THE STORY

The story behind this place

From Dongyin to Taiwan, a noodle stall through three generations

Around the sixtieth year of the Republic calendar, Liu Yi-ching and Chang Huo-chin's family came from Dongyin to Taiwan and later took over the market-side stall ‘The First Plain Noodle Shop.’ The second generation, Liu Tseng-hsiu, renamed it 東引小吃店 and developed dry mixed noodles and a new style of braised sides. The third generation now carries on the noodles, braising, and memories of home held in the name.

FIRST VISIT

First visit: how to order

01
Collect your order by number

Choose noodles and braised sides first, then watch your number after ordering. Collect the food when your number is called; the process is straightforward.

METROBITES LOCAL TIP
Dip the spongy tofu in a little chili bean paste

The spongy tofu has already absorbed plenty of sauce. Taste it plain, then add a little chili bean paste for heat within the savoriness without overwhelming the braised flavors.

✨ AI Quick Take

東引小吃店 (Dongyin Eatery) moves to the rhythm of Taipei nightlife, handling daytime, dinner, and late-night meals alike. Noodles are not the only focus: Braised Sides are why many guests return. Hidden in market lanes, this practical shop serves memorable flavors and is brighter and easier to find than before. It suits anyone wanting a substantial bowl with several braised items for a calm, filling meal.

Uncle's take: The test here is not variety. It is whether noodles hold their ground and braised sides absorb flavor. 東引小吃店 builds the whole show on those two skills.
Important note: 東引小吃店 is near the Nanjing Apartment Market in Songshan, about a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Nanjing Sanmin Station and not difficult to find. Its unusual schedule begins when the market closes and continues into the following early morning, making it convenient for lunch, dinner, and late-night diners.
● Braised Sides

Braised Sides have real presence here rather than serving merely as stomach-lining extras. Spongy tofu absorbs the sauce well; with chili bean paste, savoriness gains heat and dimension. Daikon is braised through and soft with flavor even on its own. Carrot is cleanly handled without much earthiness. Duck intestine follows a crisp-tender direction, deeply seasoned without gaminess and easy to eat. Pork skin is less distinctive by comparison, but the full assortment is still an excellent noodle companion—the table feels right as soon as it arrives.

● Pork Trotter Noodles (Small)

Pork Trotter Noodles are a signature that clearly represents the shop. The rich broth carries garlic and savoriness, with body on the palate and a gently sweet finish. Noodles retain enough bite instead of going soft. The skin-on trotter offers springy skin and tender meat, with salinity held in balance, making the whole bowl deeply satisfying. Add chili sauce for more layers if you favor stronger flavors. Even the small bowl has substantial presence; larger appetites will not regret sizing up.

Uncle's take: Whether a bowl of noodles stays in the memory often depends more on broth than toppings. This Pork Trotter Noodles bowl lets the soup do the talking.
💡 A Refined Little Note

On a first visit, begin with Pork Trotter Noodles and several Braised Sides to see the kitchen's fundamentals. For a fuller selection, prioritize spongy tofu, duck intestine, and radish.

  • The shop is around the Nanjing Apartment Market in Songshan, near Nanjing Sanmin Station and convenient on foot.
  • Hours run from midday into late night, welcoming lunch, dinner, and late-night guests.
  • Noodles and Braised Sides are equal priorities. Order, then collect by number through a clear process.
  • The dining room is brighter and more orderly than before.
  • Best for a hot bowl after work, nearby office workers, metro riders, and anyone seeking late-night noodles.

📌 Editor's Summary

東引小吃店 wins not with extravagant décor but with solid noodles and Braised Sides, making its place in Taipei's late-night scene obvious from the first meal. Its location, hours, and food all suit anyone seeking a convenient, enduring noodle shop with the flavor of old Taipei.
