Consider it if you are nearby

“The braised tomato beef brisket noodles justify a walk into the lanes from Jiangzicui Station: rich broth carries sweet-tart tomato, the brisket is tender and gelatinous, and the noodles offer both spring and volume. This small shop serves everyday noodles to nearby workers and students, with a flavorful plate of braised sides completing the meal. The wonton noodle broth is mild, so savory-flavor fans should favor the brisket noodles.”

Braised Tomato Beef Brisket Noodles

A rich braised broth is threaded with sweet-tart tomato, while brisket absorbs the soup and becomes tender with a gelatinous bite. The noodles are springy, and both noodles and meat come generously portioned. Choose this for a filling meal with bold flavor, but smaller appetites should mind the size.

Banqiao Jiangzicui noodle pick | 五六麵館 (Wu Liu Mian Guan): huge braised tomato beef brisket noodles and deeply seasoned braised sides

The conversation my boyfriend and I have most often after work goes:

“What's for dinner?”
“No idea.”
“Let's just have noodles.”

That sounds casual, but it hides every office worker's humblest wish:
a steaming, filling dinner at a price that is not frightening.

This time we visitedWu Liu Mian Guan。

near Jiangzicui in Banqiao, hoping for an affordable bowl. My boyfriend's wonton noodles were disappointing, so we eventually swapped dishes and returned dinner to the road of happiness.

Where is Wu Liu Mian Guan? An affordable noodle shop near Jiangzicui Station

Wu Liu Mian Guan is near Jiangzicui MRT Station in Banqiao.

By MRT, takeExit 4 at Jiangzicui (江子翠站·Jiangzicui)and follow Section Two of Shuangshi Road for about 10 minutes.

The shop is small and humble, with only a few tables.
Its friendly prices and broad menu bring nearby workers and students often.

That makes it very appealing to budget-conscious diners.
A hot bowl of noodles without spending much is practical comfort for working people like us.

Plenty of choices: beef noodles, soup noodles, and rice

The menu spans beef noodles and soup noodles to rice, small dishes, and braised sides.

If you like studying a noodle-shop menu, you can take your time here.
But if, like me, your brain has little capacity left after work, seeingBraised Tomato Beef Brisket Noodleswill probably pull you straight in.

My boyfriend initially chosewonton noodleswhile I ordered the braised tomato beef brisket noodles.
We expected a peaceful dinner with separate dishes; it became a “meal-swap rescue mission.”

Braised Tomato Beef Brisket Noodles: an honest portion two light eaters could share

五六麵館 (Wu Liu Mian Guan) visit photo

This bowl ofBraised Tomato Beef Brisket Noodlesis genuinely large.

Seeing the noodles arrive, I silently wondered:

Is this really only one bowl? There is so much noodle that a woman will find it very filling, and two women with smaller appetites could plausibly share it.

The braised tomato broth is deeply savory with the fruit's sweet acidity.
Its aroma is obvious; one sniff makes the bowl seem promising.

I love tomato, so this broth suited me perfectly.
Flashes of sweet-tart tomato keep the braised base from feeling too heavy and make it smoother to drink.

Tender, flavorful brisket and springy, filling noodles

There is plenty of beef as well.

The brisket is tender with a slight gelatinous quality, and absorbs the braised broth beautifully.
It is not dry beef that makes you question life, but fragrant, textured, satisfying meat.

The noodles are springy and pair naturally with the tomato-braised broth.
With ample noodles and boldly flavored broth, the meal is deeply filling.

If you leave work ravenous and want a huge hot bowl of noodles, this one has more fighting power than expected.

Wonton noodles: the disappointment this time, with broth too mild to remember

Next comes what my boyfriend originally ordered:wonton noodles.。

This bowl was the unfortunate one.

After a few bites, his expression slowly shifted from expectant to silent.
One look at his face told me something was wrong.

He found the broth so mild it felt as if someone had forgotten the salt.

Fortunately, the pork in the wontons had no off odor, preserving one bright point.
Still, the whole bowl was too subdued—a truly faint clear soup that disappointed him.

Watching him look increasingly betrayed by life, I activated girlfriend support mode and swapped meals.

His complexion returned to normal only after taking over my brisket noodles.
In that moment I was not a girlfriend but the dinner-scene rescue squad.

Braised sides: tofu, kelp, and daikon all pair well

Besides noodles, you can order braised small dishes to accompany them.

This time we hadBraised Tofu, kelp, and daikon。

The tofu performed well: its pores absorb plenty of braising liquid, making every bite deeply seasoned.
Kelp and daikon are equally natural noodle sides, humble but easy to enjoy.

Small dishes really matter at an affordable noodle shop like this.
Sometimes a few bites of braised food before the noodles arrive make the meal feel properly underway.

This office girl's verdict: order the brisket noodles; the wonton noodles were weaker this time

Overall, Wu Liu Mian Guan is an affordable Jiangzicui noodle shop with generous portions.

My top recommendation this time isBraised Tomato Beef Brisket Noodles。
with rich sweet-tart tomato broth, tender seasoned brisket, and plenty of noodles to leave you full.

The braised sides are worth ordering too; the tofu absorbs flavor well and suits the main dish.

The disappointment was my boyfriend'swonton noodles.。
The broth was mild and lacked savory salt and pepper aroma, making it less memorable. The wonton pork had no off odor, but without a strong broth the bowl felt incomplete.

On a first visit, start with the brisket noodles or another dish with more clearly defined flavor.
Those who prefer bold seasoning may want to think twice about the wonton noodles.
