Waaaaah!!! Scream with me, girls~~💖🔥
Maggie is going all out today to recommend this wildly popular Korean standing barbecue place!!!
新村站著吃烤肉 It has finally opened in Taipei's Xinyi District~~!!! No more flying to Seoul—just take Exit 4 at 市政府站 · Taipei City Hall and it is only a few steps away~~ The former 金鑽咖啡 (Kingstone Coffee) site has completely turned into Korean barbecue heaven!!
We could already smell the amazing barbecue while lining up~~ Even the queue was fun, with super-cute markings on the ground! The staff were so thoughtful: they took our phone number so we could walk nearby, called us later, and after a short wait when we returned, a spot opened up~ They even gave us cold drinks. I could cry from the kindness💕
Inside, it feels completely like Sinchon in Korea!! There are no chairs!! Everyone eats standing up~~ Finish and go, so efficient! There is a small retail area where you can choose rice, kimchi, seaweed, edamame, black beans, radish slices, and more. Pay first, then head to your place~
Going alone was no problem at all~ Just eat barbecue boldly!!! This time I ordered onlyBeef Diaphragm(one 6oz serving), and the meat was unbelievably fragrant~~ It is expensive elsewhere! I think the value here is excellent~

It is authentic Korean metal-drum barbecue, using a flame rather than charcoal, so you do not leave covered in smoky smells~ Love it! The staff first showed me how to grill it, explained the heat, and said medium-well tastes best. They also cut the large piece into four and told me, ‘You grill this yourself~’ Hahaha, I kept taking photos, so they worried I thought there was tableside service😂
Cutting the meat yourself is so satisfying~ Follow the grain and one cut creates lots of pieces! Grill it to the tenderness you like, then dip it while hot ingarlic sauceIt is almost unfair~~ Fragrant but not sweet, and it brings out the beef beautifully! Of course, I also dipped it in Korean chili sauce and crunched through two sweet peppers~ Spicy, sweet, and paired with meat—it was exhilarating!! The kimchi had plenty of flavor too; eating it straight with the meat was so satisfying~
♥ Maggie's aside: I thought the meat quality was pretty good—fragrant and tender! One serving feels a little short for one person, so I recommend 1.5 servings per person, or three servings for two people~~ I do wonder how well standing dining will be accepted in Taiwan, since people still seem to prefer sitting, chatting, and eating. Personally, I found it fresh and fun!!
Girls~~ Let's line up for meat together in Xinyi District next time!! Then we can shop right afterward~~ If you have been, share your experience too~~ I already want to rush back for a second visit!!!
