THE STORY

The story behind this place

Serving his mother’s hot soup to those home late

邱隆杰 once left early and returned late for work; a hot soup his mother left him was familiar comfort when he reached home. Opening 牛肉麵.雞湯, he wanted to offer that care to late-night workers and those returning at night. Learning from his mother and chef friends, he brought Hakka red-braised beef and military-village flavors together.

✨ AI restaurant note

For late-night food near Zhongxiao Dunhua Station (忠孝敦化站) or chicken soup and beef noodles in the East District, the name 牛肉麵.雞湯 says it plainly. Peeled Chili Chicken Soup was most memorable, with rich broth and tender chicken. Fine Beef Noodles with Beef and Tendon takes a mild, easy-drinking route, while sides complete the table after the wait. The shop is small and number tickets are required at busy times. Whether to queue is your call; this uncle is only here to name the stars.

Uncle’s line: Before queuing, ask if you want chicken soup or are following a crowd. If it is chicken soup, you will take that ticket willingly.
Setting and atmosphere:The compact room is geared toward a quick bowl, so seats are close when busy. It stays bright and clean; water-cooled fans and drinking water are available outside for waiting guests. Good for late-night food or a quick meal with a few people, not for spreading out a laptop.

Location and dining notes:The address is 台北市大安區敦化南路一段164號, about a 3-minute walk from Exit 7 of Zhongxiao Dunhua Station. Take a number ticket to wait; dinner and late-night peaks may have queues. Check the restaurant’s latest notices for hours, last orders and waiting procedures.
● Peeled Chili Chicken Soup

The rich, silky broth has an almost milky roundness. Peeled chilies are mild, leaving sweetness and aroma. Tender chicken fibers absorb the soup, keeping one clear theme from first sip to last. It is no light health soup, yet the heat never steals the scene. To understand the queue, start here.

● Fine Beef Noodles with Beef and Tendon

Beef is tender, tendon thoroughly cooked yet lightly sticky and springy, and fine noodles carry the broth. The base is mild rather than fiercely salty; add pickled mustard greens, chili or beef fat to adjust later flavors. It may not wake you with the first bite, but the full bowl does not tire the palate.

● Large Tofu and Pig Ears

Large tofu is braised soft but keeps its soybean aroma; garlic soy paste completes the savory flavor. Pig ears bring crunch and chew as contrast. Good for a few bites after waiting or for sharing with noodles—do not let your tablemates finish it while you talk.

牛肉麵.雞湯 (Niu Rou Mian Ji Tang) visit photo
● Tofu Puff in Original Broth

The porous tofu holds plenty of beef broth and releases savoriness when bitten, needing no extra sauce. The portion is small but carries the beef-soup theme better than an ordinary side. If heat-sensitive, bite small; do not let one tofu puff teach you the cost of impatience.

● Braised Radish

The radish is flavorful and soft without falling apart. Its sweetness draws the richer soups and braised sides back into balance. Plain-looking but capable beside beef noodles, it is more comfortable than another spoonful of heavy sauce when you want a change late in the meal.

● Zhajiang Noodles

The sauce is distinctly savory; on this visit the noodles were firm and the sauce rather dry, so mix well while hot. Dry-noodle fans can try it, but on a first visit with limited appetite, this uncle still ranks chicken soup and beef noodles first.

📌 Editor’s conclusion

The name 牛肉麵.雞湯 takes no detour, and neither should the meal: begin with rich Peeled Chili Chicken Soup, then complete it with Fine Beef Noodles with Beef and Tendon and braised sides. The shop is small and queues are common, but Zhongxiao Dunhua Station is close. Avoid the busiest period and even this uncle will frown less over his soup.
