THE STORY

The story behind this place

A bowl that came from Xinming Market

After Liao Qingyun and Wei Rong'an came to Taiwan, they set up a simple noodle stall beside Xinming Market in Zhongli and made a living selling Sichuan-style beef noodles. The rich broth and house-made noodles became the starting point of this business story.

Wei Taihu later took over and registered the name 永川牛肉麵. The flavor that continued from the market stall lets travelers encounter, through a hot bowl of noodles, a hometown taste that took root in Zhongli.

FIRST VISIT

First visit: how to order

01
Confirm the refill rules for broth and noodles

Dine-in guests can usually get one free refill of broth and noodles, while takeaway rules differ. If you order glass noodles, also ask the staff whether that day's refill policy applies.

METROBITES LOCAL TIP
Taste the original broth before adding pickled greens

The broth already has noticeable saltiness, heat, and doubanjiang aroma. Taste it first before deciding how much pickled mustard greens or chili to add, so it is easier to adjust the bowl to your preference.

✨ AI Visit Snapshot

永川牛肉麵 is one of Zhongli's representative longtime beef-noodle shops, known for Sichuan-style broth, beef noodles with both tendon and meat, and generously sized dumplings. Its 24-hour schedule is especially convenient, whether you want a regular meal, something hot late at night, or an easy stop while driving through. The overall style is straightforward and built for repeat eating, without much flashy packaging, but with the reassuring feeling of a shop that takes a bowl of noodles seriously.

Uncle's line: What makes a shop like this strong is not having endless tricks. It is that the broth, noodles, and meat all hold their ground, which makes the meal feel dependable.
Dining room and atmosphere:The old Minquan Road shop stays busy from daytime into late night. Tables, chairs, and the ordering style remain direct and traditional, and shared tables or waits during busy periods are nothing unusual. The soup pot keeps rolling for long hours, beef noodles come out quickly, and dine-in guests who are still hungry can get one broth-and-noodle refill according to the rules. Eat a reasonable amount from your bowl before asking; requesting a refill while the original bowl is untouched is enough to make even Uncle question your sincerity. This is not a boutique date-night setting—the point is to eat a bowl of bold, old-school noodles.
Location and dining notes:The address is 桃園市中壢區民權路61-1號, phone 03 495 3403, around Xinming Market and Zhongli Tourist Night Market. It is walkable from Airport MRT A22 Laojie River (老街溪站). The shop is currently still open 24 hours. Dine-in guests can usually get one free broth-and-noodle refill, while takeaway rules differ; actual availability follows the situation on site. Parking nearby can be difficult, so scooters or the MRT are easier. Drivers can look around Zhongzheng Road or Xinming Market for parking—do not treat a red curb as a complimentary old-shop parking spot.
● Sichuan-Style Beef Noodles

Sichuan-Style Beef Noodles are the signature at 永川. The bright red broth opens with chili oil and doubanjiang aroma, followed by the depth of beef bone and braised meat. Overall it leans salty and bold rather than gentle or clear. The beef shank includes tendon, while the thick noodles are springy and hold the soup well. If you are sensitive to salt, ask about adjustment when ordering. Do not rush to add pickled mustard greens before the first sip—learn the broth's original temperament first, then decide how to tame it. Otherwise the whole bowl becomes a meeting of condiments.

● Sichuan-Style Beef Glass Noodles

Sichuan-Style Beef Glass Noodles use the same rich broth, but the glass noodles are smoother than the thick noodles and absorb the soup quickly, making the spice, saltiness, and beef aroma feel more direct. Loosen them up and eat while hot so they do not sit too long and lose their texture. They suit people who like strong broth but want a cleaner, quicker bite than thick noodles. If you want the free broth-and-noodle refill, ask first whether glass noodles qualify under that day's rule instead of debating menu categories with the staff at the bottom of the bowl.

● Dumplings

The Dumplings are generously sized, with substantial, chewy wrappers and a plump, juicy chive-and-pork filling. They stand up well on their own or alongside beef broth. Take a small first bite to let the heat escape, then adjust with soy sauce or chili. The beef noodles are already salty, so there is no need to turn the dipping sauce into a swimming pool. Two people can split one order of dumplings and one bowl of noodles, getting two kinds of starch without ending up outside a 24-hour old shop at midnight realizing the takeout box is what really needed the refill.

💡 Ordering Note

For a first visit, order the Sichuan-Style Beef Noodles and mention it if you are sensitive to salt. Choose glass noodles for a smoother texture, and two people can share dumplings. Dine-in refill rules differ from takeaway, so confirm on site. The 24-hour schedule is convenient, but parking nearby is not.

  • Location:桃園市中壢區民權路61-1號, walkable from A22 Laojie River (老街溪站).
  • Type:Sichuan-style beef noodles, glass noodles, dumplings, and side dishes.
  • Highlights:Longtime shop, open 24 hours, bold broth, and dine-in broth-and-noodle refills.
  • Good for:Late-night meals, bold-flavor fans, everyday local dining, and anyone who needs a hot bowl of noodles at almost any hour.

📌 Editor's Take

永川牛肉麵 follows the classic, highly repeatable old-shop formula. There is little flashy packaging, but the essential soup, meat, and noodles are all handled solidly. Add 24-hour opening and dine-in broth-and-noodle refills, while remembering that parking needs a separate plan, and it becomes the kind of longtime Zhongli shop made for everyday return visits.
