THE STORY

The story behind this place

Helping an upstairs cafe be seen

UU's small sign fixed at the third-floor level was once too easy to miss, leaving both passersby and visitors who had come especially for the cafe walking past its entrance. The cafe asked 津本廣告 to redesign the frontage. After several revisions, it chose a forest-inspired look with white-and-gray stone patterns and milk-tea tones, adding a large chinchilla design so the theme inside could be seen from the street.

✨ AI Visit Notes

悠悠龍貓咖啡 (UU Chinchilla Cafe) combines cafe food and drinks with live chinchilla interaction in one booked experience, rather than relying only on cute-looking food. The second-floor interaction area, rolling dust baths and themed meals are the highlights. But the animals are not photo props: follow staff instructions for touching, feeding and interacting. If you want to slow down and meet these little animals, nicknamed ‘longmao’ in Chinese, your attitude matters more than your camera.

Uncle's take: Having company while you eat is nothing new, but a fluffy chinchilla rolling around nearby really is soothing. Let me get one thing straight first, though: being cute does not oblige it to cooperate with your selfie schedule.
Dining room and atmosphere:The ground floor is the cafe dining space; the interaction area is upstairs on the second floor, with the stairs and seating also following the theme. The animals need a cool, quiet environment, so the room may feel chilly. A light jacket is a practical choice. Speak softly and move slowly so both people and animals can spend this time comfortably.
Location and booking notes:The address is 台北市南港區研究院路一段29號2樓, about a 2- to 3-minute walk from Exit 5 of MRT Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館站). Animal interaction requires a reservation; according to the cafe's current information, bookings are taken through its official LINE account, with no walk-in entry. Available sessions, fees, minimum spend and visit duration follow your booking confirmation. Last-minute cancellations affect the cafe and the animals' rotation, so book only when you're sure you can come.
● Chinchilla Interaction

Upstairs on the second floor, staff first explain the rules, then introduce the chinchillas appearing that day according to the arrangements on site. Their clear-sided activity space lets you watch them move, rest and roll without reaching in every second. Each animal has its own personality and condition on the day; staff decide whether touching or feeding is allowed.

💡 Interaction Notes

Check the rules before taking photos. Don't use flash, chase the animals or block their path for a better angle. A seat near the edge may make the clear-sided space easier to observe, but seating still follows the staff's allocation.

● Chinchilla Bath Time

Chinchillas clean their fur with dust baths, turning and rolling quickly. It's one of the moments most likely to have everyone quietly watching. These are natural grooming behaviors, not tricks forced on performing animals. Whether you see a bath, and for how long, depends on the day's arrangements and the individual animal.

Uncle's take: Watching a couple of rolls seems to loosen some of your own stress. Just don't get so excited that you shout. Before you soothe yourself, make sure you aren't startling them.
● Chinchilla's Favorite Burger

The rice burger holds beef cooked in a sweet-savory sauce, with refreshing salad to cut the richness and a chinchilla-shaped bread roll alongside to complete the theme. The meal takes an approachable, dependable route, with portion size and cuteness standing out more than complex seasoning.

● Chinchilla Picnic Toast

The toast is crisp, the meat filling stays tender, and a themed design adds a picnic feel. It isn't just a cute photo prop; attention has gone into the texture too. Eating it hot is fairer than photographing it until it goes soft and then complaining.

● Daily Limited Cakes

The cheesecake is smooth and milky, with a chinchilla decoration beside it bringing the dessert into the theme. Flavors and quantities depend on the day's supply. Ask at check-in if you want a particular item; the selection is not guaranteed to be the same for every session.

● Drinks: Milk Tea / Cocoa

Milk tea or cocoa comes with chinchilla-face latte art that really does make you pause for a few seconds before drinking. The flavors are approachable; the point is to carry the themed experience all the way to the cup. Available drinks and latte-art designs depend on what is served that day.

📌 Editor's Wrap-Up

悠悠龍貓咖啡 is worth visiting for the way it brings food, space and chinchilla interaction into one complete experience. Burgers, picnic toast and latte art supply the theme, but the lasting memories come from watching the animals quietly go about their lives and roll in dust baths. Book first, bring a jacket, lower your voice and leave the insistence on touching them at the door. Keeping the animals comfortable means your relaxation won't come at the cost of their stress.
