“Thick French toast and freshly made soy milk give the familiar large brunch platter its own texture theme. The journey from a Xinzhuang stall to a Tamsui shop and back to Xinzhuang also gives the breakfast a story beyond the space itself.”

WHY VISIT

Why add it to your itinerary?

01
Thick French toast anchors the large platter.

After soaking up egg and milk, the toast is browned golden on the surface while staying moist and soft inside. Paired with bacon, a soft-boiled egg, or crispy chicken, its milky aroma cuts through the savory flavors.

02
One plate cycles through crisp, tender, sweet, and refreshing.

Chicken, sausage, potato wedges, eggs, warm vegetables, fruit, and dairy accompaniments keep their own textures. Vegetables and fruit are useful between fried items and toast, preventing the latter half of the meal from feeling only heavy.

03
From a Xinzhuang street stall back to the starting point

The founder and her university classmate first ran a small stall in Xinzhuang, moved near their Tamsui alma mater because of a lease change, then eventually returned to Xinzhuang to start again. After going full circle, they still chose their original city.

THE STORY

The story behind this place

A breakfast route through Tamsui and back to Xinzhuang

Fang Yi-wen and her university classmate are both Xinzhuang locals and first started their business there as a small street stall. After a lease change, they moved the shop near their alma mater, Tamkang University, serving a mainly student clientele that was easily affected by the academic calendar.

Later, Fang Yi-wen decided to return to the original starting point, Xinzhuang, and reopen. Today, the old-house space in a Fushou Street lane continues the story of both the small stall and the Tamsui shop.

Meihao Classic French Brunch Plate

Thick French toast is browned golden outside and stays soft inside with an egg-and-milk aroma; thick bacon and a soft-boiled egg with a wine note add substantial savory flavor.

Little Chicken Gets Its Sausage Wish

Chicken and German sausage form the meaty core, while the sunny-side egg yolk can be mixed into the warm salad. Bread, potato wedges, fruit, and dairy-based dip spread out the textures.

Freshly made soy milk

Soybeans are freshly ground and simmered, giving a slight fine-grain texture and direct soybean aroma. It works well after French toast or a heavier meat plate to clear the palate.

METROBITES LOCAL TIP
Eat the hot dishes first; save soy milk for the middle and later part of the meal.

Eat the French toast and potato wedges hot when they arrive, then mix the runny yolk into the warm vegetables. Save the freshly made soy milk for between the meats and fried items; its fine soybean aroma works well as a palate reset.

✨ AI Quick Take

In a narrow lane off Fushou Street, an area packed with Chinese food in Xinzhuang, sits an unexpectedly fresh-looking old-house brunch courtyard. White walls, green plants, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a bar patched together from vintage window frames and green checkered tiles give it a distinctive look for the neighborhood. The business grew from a small cart into a storefront and focuses on moderately priced, generous brunch platters, burgers, and pressed toast. The space has excellent natural light and a friendly feel, though some drink recipes can be inconsistent in proportion, so serious coffee drinkers may want to manage expectations.

Uncle says: “Eat breakfast at leisure and live life with humor” sounds lovely. But if the coffee arrives without much coffee flavor, Uncle may have trouble staying humorous.
Interior and dining atmosphere:The shop is hidden in a narrow Fushou Street lane. White walls, green plants, floor-to-ceiling windows, and vintage window frames create a bright old-house atmosphere. It is not large, but it is better suited to lingering than a typical breakfast stand. Weekends can still bring queues, and the bar and tables fill quickly. If you want photos, let the hot food land first—French toast and freshly stir-fried warm salad do not wait. The setting can be leisurely, but the kitchen has its own rhythm; do not turn brunch into a high-speed-rail sprint.
Location and dining notes:The address is 新北市新莊區福壽街142巷38號; phone 02 2277 5838. It is walkable from Xingfu on the Circular Line. Typical hours are Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 07:30–17:00, and Tuesday–Thursday 07:30–15:00. Last orders, waiting procedures, and temporary closures should follow the shop’s announcements. Car parking in the lane is difficult, so scooters, walking, or the metro are more practical. If you circle three times without finding a space, half the “beautiful day” of breakfast may already be gone.
● Meihao Classic French Brunch Plate

Little Chicken Gets Its Sausage Wish uses a playful name to signal chicken and German sausage. The plate also includes sliced bread, dip, a sunny-side egg, potato wedges, and fruit. On this visit, blueberry cream-cheese jam balanced sweet and tart without overpowering the bread; the potato wedges arrived slightly crisp outside and fluffy within. The runny yolk can coat the warm salad, turning vegetables from fresh to silky while creating a softer bridge between chicken and sausage.

● Meihao Whole-Wheat Breakfast Plate

The Meihao Whole-Wheat Breakfast Plate places chocolate toast in a generous spread with soft eggs, potato wedges, vegetables, fruit, and dairy accompaniments for contrasting textures. Whole-wheat toast has a grainy chew, while the sweet filling gives the staple a lighter, playful side. Soft eggs fit naturally between toast and fried potatoes. Fruit and vegetables leave refreshing space around the starch and egg flavors, so one plate moves among sweet, savory, crisp, and tender instead of tasting like one-note breakfast.

Uncle says: If a warm salad actually stir-fries bell peppers, cucumber, and mushrooms instead of tossing in two leaves of iceberg lettuce as decoration, the owner’s attitude already passes.
● Crispy Chicken Caesar Emperor Brunch Plate

The Crispy Chicken Caesar Emperor Brunch Plate combines king oyster mushrooms, German sausage, crispy chicken, fruit, green salad, and French toast, putting meat, vegetables, and a staple on one plate. Crispy chicken contrasts coating with meat, while thick, juicy king oyster mushrooms bridge the textures. The French toast is the highlight: after absorbing egg and milk, it stays moist, releasing both milk aroma and the fragrance of cooked egg. Eating it with salad lightens the fried elements and keeps the plate changing through the later bites.

● Little Chicken Gets Its Sausage Wish

The Meihao Classic French Brunch Plate centers on thick French toast with thick-cut bacon, a soft-boiled egg, greens, and dairy accompaniments. The toast is browned golden on the surface while staying soft from absorbed egg and milk inside. Thick bacon adds meat aroma and a substantial chew that contrasts with the fluffy toast. The soft-boiled egg carries a noticeable wine note and a gently set yolk; eaten alone it shows its aroma, while alternating it with toast or bacon adds layers to the plate.

● Freshly made soy milk

Freshly made soy milk is ground from soybeans and simmered, leaving a slight fine-grain texture and a more direct bean aroma than powdered mixes, with sweetness kept smooth. It works with French toast or spicy chicken thigh, and after a heavier plate a sip noticeably cleans up the mouth. If you normally drink unsweetened soy milk, ask about sweetness first rather than negotiating with a full cup after it arrives. There are many drink choices here, but Uncle would save stomach space for this one because it feels especially breakfast-like.

💡 Ordering note

If you want more meat, start with Little Chicken Gets Its Sausage Wish. For toast aroma, choose the Crispy Chicken Caesar Emperor Brunch Plate or Meihao Classic French Brunch Plate. If you want sweet, savory, fruit, and vegetables together, look at the Meihao Whole-Wheat Breakfast Plate. The storefront is discreet inside the lane, so slow down near the address and look for the plants; if there is a crowd, fill in the waiting list first.

📌 Editor’s Take

Uncle feels that a meal at 「美好的一天」 really does carry the sincerity of a small street cart working its way into an old-house storefront. The 「24小叔法式吐司」 is cloud-soft, and the freshly ground, freshly simmered soy milk has that slight graininess; together, the generous platter still feels grounded and well executed. It is not for picky connoisseurs chasing the ultimate specialty coffee, but if you want a sunny, not-too-noisy corner for a relaxed and filling weekend brunch, the gentle pace here is still worth trying.
